Time Duration Calculator

Add, subtract, or find time between two times.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add multiple time durations together? +
Enter each duration in HH:MM:SS format in separate rows and set the operation to Add. The calculator converts everything to total seconds, sums them, and converts back to hours, minutes, and seconds.
What is decimal hours and when is it useful? +
Decimal hours express time as a single number (e.g., 1 hour 30 minutes = 1.50 hours). This format is commonly used for timesheets, billing, and payroll where fractional hours are easier to multiply by an hourly rate.
How does the time-between mode handle overnight spans? +
If the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator assumes the end time is on the following day and adds 24 hours to the difference. This handles shifts that cross midnight.
Can I subtract durations to find the remaining time? +
Yes. Switch the operation to Subtract. The calculator subtracts each subsequent row from the first row. If the result goes negative, it displays the absolute value with a negative sign so you know the subtracted amount exceeded the original.
