Frequently Asked Questions
How is the due date calculated? +
The due date is calculated using Naegele's rule: add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). If using a conception date, 266 days (38 weeks) are added since conception typically occurs about 2 weeks after the LMP.
How accurate is a due date calculator? +
Only about 5% of babies are born on their exact due date. Most babies are born within 1-2 weeks before or after the estimated due date. The due date is an estimate and can be refined with ultrasound measurements, especially in the first trimester.
What are the three trimesters of pregnancy? +
The first trimester is weeks 1-12, the second trimester is weeks 13-26, and the third trimester is weeks 27-40. Each trimester brings different developmental milestones for the baby and physical changes for the mother.
What is the difference between gestational age and fetal age? +
Gestational age is counted from the first day of the last menstrual period and is typically 2 weeks longer than fetal age. Fetal age (conceptional age) is counted from the actual date of conception. Medical professionals typically use gestational age.
Is my pregnancy data stored? +
No. All calculations happen entirely in your browser. Your dates and pregnancy information are never sent to any server or stored anywhere.
