How does tap tempo work? +
Click the Tap Tempo button repeatedly in time with the beat you want to match. The metronome averages the intervals between your last several taps to calculate the BPM. At least two taps are needed for a reading.
Why use Web Audio API instead of setInterval for timing? +
setInterval can drift by 10-50ms due to browser throttling, especially in background tabs. The Web Audio API schedules sounds on a high-precision audio clock, keeping beats perfectly in time regardless of browser activity.
What time signatures are available? +
The metronome supports 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, and 6/8 time signatures. Beat 1 of each measure is accented with a higher-pitched click so you can hear the downbeat clearly.
Can I use keyboard shortcuts to control the metronome? +
Yes. Press Space to start or stop, the up and down arrow keys to adjust BPM by 1, and T to tap tempo.
