Fraction Calculator

To add fractions with different denominators, first find the least common denominator (LCD). Convert each fraction so they share the LCD, then add the numerators and keep the denominator. Simplify the result if possible.

To multiply fractions, multiply the numerators together and multiply the denominators together. Then simplify the resulting fraction by dividing both parts by their greatest common divisor (GCD).

To divide fractions, flip the second fraction (take its reciprocal) and then multiply. For example, 1/2 ÷ 3/4 becomes 1/2 × 4/3 = 4/6 = 2/3.

A mixed number is a whole number combined with a fraction, like 2 1/3. It represents the sum of the whole part and the fractional part. To calculate with mixed numbers, first convert them to improper fractions.

To simplify a fraction, find the greatest common divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator, then divide both by the GCD. For example, 6/8 simplified: GCD(6,8)=2, so 6/8 = 3/4.
