Can I start numbering from a page other than 1? +

Yes. Use the Starting Number field to set any starting value. For example, set it to 3 if you want the first page labeled as page 3.

What page number formats are available? +

Four formats: plain number (1), Page 1, 1 of N (where N is total pages), and Page 1 of N.

Does this work with scanned or image-based PDFs? +

Yes. Page numbers are drawn on top of existing page content, so it works with any PDF regardless of how it was created.

Can I control how far the number sits from the edge of the page? +

Yes. The margin setting controls the distance in points from the page edge. Increase it to push the number further inward.
